Basic information

For a PV system to work well it should be free of any shade for at least 12 hours per day at mid-summer. PV arrays should ideally face south but arrays between east and west also produce very acceptable results. The optimal inclination in the UK is between 30 and 40 degrees. An area of approximately 16m2 is required for a standard 2kWp domestic system. A minimum area of 8m2 is required.
